Job description

As the HRM and financial support officer you manage and arrange contracts for the Computer Science department at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. This includes contracts with Teaching Assistants (TA’s) and external partners.

You keep an overview of all these contracts and are responsible for the necessary actions from the beginning to the successful end. You have close contact with all the stake holders and keep them informed about the processing of their contracts. You are the first point of contact for HRM- and related financial questions. For some contracts you also take care of the financial matters. You provide instructors, TA’s, and the HRM Servicedesk with useful information about the contracts, and when necessary, you stay in touch with the HR Advisor and Department Manager. Towards the future your role may develop further, which will result in more complex HRM tasks and responsibilities. The VU will provide additional training and courses if necessary.

Your duties

  • Keeping an overview of contracts of the department. This includes starting and extending the contracts, communicating with the International Office regarding work permits, and sending invoices for corresponding contracts.
  • Being the first point of contact for instructors regarding Teaching Assistant contracts. You provide deadlines and instructions for hiring Teaching Assistants for their courses.
  • Sending Teaching Assistants instructions regarding their contracts and answering questions.
  • Keeping the TA Canvas page up to date with relevant information and posting TA vacancies.
  • Taking care of the correct allocation of staff.
  • Being the first point of contact for the HRM Servicedesk regarding contracts.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong administrative skills. Experience with similar administrative tasks is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge and experience with MS Office (explicitly Excel).
  • Excellent spoken and written command of English and Dutch.
  • You have good problem solving skills. You find accuracy in your work very important.
  • You can work with people from different cultural backgrounds.
  • You have a service-oriented attitude.
  • You can work independently.

What are we offering?

A challenging position in a socially involved organization. On full-time basis the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of €  2,402 (scale 6) and a maximum € 3,026 (scale 6), depending on your education and experience. The job profile: Administratief medewerker 1 is based on the university job ranking system and is vacant for at least 0.8 FTE.

The initial contract will be for the period of one year. After a positive evaluation of functioning a permanent contract will be offered.
