This position provides comprehensive administrative assistance in support of the human resources (HR) operation for the Department of Orthopaedics in the School of Medicine (SOM). This position performs defined transactional activities for the assigned department and divisions such as employee onboarding, orientation, and timekeeping.
This position is an integral member of the Brain Health Center and Orthopaedics Human Resources team, and this will be a great opportunity to gain exposure and experience in all aspects of the HR function.
Human Resources Responsibilities
- Conduct HR transactions for Orthopaedics department
- Assist with new Faculty, Student and Staff onboarding and orientation
- Processes new hire and applicant tracking paperwork
- Responsible for the review and accuracy of submitted documents such as the USCIS’ Form I-9
- Processes required payroll paperwork as needed
- Provides assistance to managers and supervisors on matters such as employee leave tracking and timekeeping
- Assist with VISA and credentialing processing
- Advise or refer individuals to appropriate staff for guidance on human resources policies, procedures, and related topics
- May support Employee Relations inquiries, and Workers’ Compensation and FMLA requests, by gathering supporting documentation or relevant evidence
- Maintain databases, and personnel records and files
- Assist HR Administrator with special HR related projects
- Perform related responsibilities as directed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years of college coursework and three years of general office administration experience or human resources experience in a support role as a generalist or in one of many human resources fields such as employment, employee relations, compensation, and/or benefits administration.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and communication skills required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in an academic healthcare center desired.
- Experience in a collegiate-level academic environment is highly preferred.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office 2016, 2019 or 365 (Outlook, Word and Excel) and have experience with word processing and database management computer applications.
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department of work. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
