The W. P. Carey School of Business, where business is personal ®, is seeking a HR Generalist that will assist in the implementation of HR strategy by providing various human resources functions to support the success of our students, faculty and staff.  

The goal is to ensure that the HR department’s operations will run smoothly and effectively to deliver maximum value to the organization as a whole. Essential Duties

Recruitment:

  • Writes and edits job descriptions, essential functions, and advertisements to ensure compliance with employment practice
  • Oversees recruitment logistics for new and existing positions which includes applicant review and interview process (using BrassRing/Kenexa), hiring protocol following ASU policies and procedures and tasks associated with completion of searches
  • Manages onboarding for new hires, ensure smooth transitions by completing all process steps. Communicates with key personnel involved in process
  • Submit and Review criminal background checks and credential verification’s for regular faculty and staff new hires, and for students/volunteers in security sensitive positions
  • Payroll & Records Management:
  • Acts as the Department Time Administrator (DTA) for assigned departments by reviewing, approving and resolving discrepancies.
  • Manages HR transactions and maintains data integrity for the department including but not limited to PTR’s, position changes, supervisor updates, pay changes and equity increases
  • Provides support during employee merit process including data entry and merging notification letters
  • Ensures all personnel files are current and in compliance, including electronic personnel files, electronic medical/leave files, recruitment files and payroll/time records
  • Maintains employee personal files

International Appointments & Academic Personnel:

  • Serves as the contact for visiting, volunteer, adjunct and affiliated faculty requests.  Compose and prepare letters in coordination with the Academic Personnel Specialist Senior. Provide advice and resources to faculty and staff
  • Communicates with departments representatives, international candidates/employees and the International Student and Scholar Office (ISSC) concerning visa questions and provide guidance on processes; coordinate various visa processes for eligible employees by collecting and submitting required documents; track applications through the online immigration system and maintain accurate records
  • Assists Academic Personnel Specialist Senior in drafting faculty letters, maintaining faculty spreadsheets and files, faculty onboarding, and other faculty HR related tasks

General:

  • In partnership with Central HR office, manages activities related to FMLA, Parental leave and Worker’s Compensation
  • Responsible for processing personnel actions such as promotions, re-assignments and terminations, as well as, maintaining required documentation and resolving discrepancies and/or elevating for resolution
  • Develops and maintains department process guides to ensure consistency with changes in procedures and/or practices
  • Provides training to new and current HR Assistants on various HR related topics as needed.
  • Assists with compensation requests (reclassification, equity reviews, off-cycle salary increases) including pulling compensation data, creating letters and processing
  • Manages organizational charts, staff directories, and group list servs
  • Assists with reports, data analysis, summaries, and presentations related to Talent Management activities
  • Performs confidential and critical administrative projects as required
  • Performs job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration or related field AND four (4) years of professional human resources experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

  • Evidence of effective communication and to interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds
  • Experience in collecting, compiling, evaluating, and analyzing data from a variety of sources.
  • Experience in presenting reporting data and possible solutions
  • Experience in working effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community and rapidly changing technical environment
  • Evidence in having a commitment to fostering a workplace culture of belonging, where diversity is celebrated, and equity is a core value
  • Experience in support of a sophisticated talent management program is preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge and consideration of the differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying identities, cultures, and backgrounds

Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
