As UAL responds to a changing world, we have launched a new 10-year strategy, setting out an inspiring journey in relation to teaching and learning, research, student experience and our social impact. Underpinning this is a new people strategy, which has already seen significant investment in our people as well as setting ambitious goals. Our hugely positive agenda is laying out a path of exciting changes, including a new HR Director to provide leadership & direction to the HR Department and support the delivery of the people strategy. We are now seeking a new HR Director to further develop and deliver the people strategy, as well as provide leadership and direction to the HR Department. This role is intrinsic to the success of the University’s wider strategic plans and presents a career defining opportunity during a period of significant transformation and change.
Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will work with the HR senior leadership team to build an open and inclusive, high-performance culture across a diverse department of approximately 80 HR professionals, working across 6 colleges and service departments. Through your effective leadership and direction, you will ensure the department is highly effective, continues to improve, budgets are efficiently managed, and the University complies with relevant legislation regarding all HR and operating procedures.

Most important will be your substantial HR leadership experience gained within a comparable sized and customer focused organisation.
CIPD qualified, you will bring to the role a demonstrable track record of HR leadership with strategic and operational achievement, along with experience influencing strategic direction at a senior level/Board level.
You will be a highly effective negotiator with strong interpersonal skills who relishes the opportunity to be at the forefront of change and continuously adapting accordingly. If you meet the criteria, we would like to hear from you.
