Context & Mission

Médecins Sans Frontières is an independent, international medical and humanitarian organization that provides care to people in need, people affected by natural or man-made disasters, and victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and without regard to race, religion, creed or political affiliation (MSF Charter).

The MSF movement is built around 5 operational centers supported by 24 sections and offices worldwide. MSF Operational Center Geneva (MSF OCG) is one of these centers.

MSF OCG employs approximately 450 HQ staff located primarily in Geneva with teams in Zurich, Dakar and Amman and another 6,000 internationally mobile staff located in 30 countries worldwide working across 110 of our humanitarian projects.

MSF, including OCG, has grown significantly over the last 10 years and until now the HR department has managed that expansion with ad-hoc tools and methods.

To better support the ongoing demands and better serve our global workforce, OCG has launched a transformative HR initiative with one critical pillar being the introduction of an HR Information System (HRIS).

Joining a dynamic team of HR professionals, the IT Data Analyst will analyse the as-is and define the to-be data structure and flow required to support the data migration activities and implementation of HRIS integration. They will produce deliverables based on guideline and methodology provided by Data by the Data architect. The incumbent will collaborate with IT Business Analysts, Functional Referrents, HR SMEs, Data Migration specialists and Integration team to produce relevant artefacts and deliver a robust data migration process and the integration between HRIS component and peripheral systems. The HR Data Analyst will report to the Data Lead and IT Project Manager.

Responsibilities

As the HR Data Analyst, your role is pivotal in optimizing our human resources data infrastructure to support the delivery of end-to-end HRIS solutions encompassing the deployment of a new HR solution (Workday) loaded with HR data (current and historical), inbound and outbound integrations.

You will:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and document data requirements and priorities
  • Contribution to the production of data quality standards in our HRIS, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance
  • Define the integration flow of data across the relevant systems to ensure data consistency and accuracy
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with IT business analysts, application managers and functional referrents to align data with business processes
  • Identify data requirements and workflows for an effective HRIS implementation
  • Design our HR data flows, data mapping and conversion rules for the data migration
  • Extract source data, develop conversion scripts, reconciliation scripts and continuously improve them through-out the end-to-end delivery lifecycle
  • Analyse data quality for in the context of data migration and system integration, recognise patterns and make recommendations to the team
  • Work closely with the Data Protection Officer to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Control the quality of the data team’s deliverables (e.g. peer review) and test the data outputs generated by data migration scripts and system integrations tools
  • Support and participate to the program’s testing activities
  • Submit deliverables for review and feedback by the Data Architect. Incorporate feedback

Your Profile

Experience

  • Proven track record in data modelling and analysis, ideally with HR and in an international environment
  • Experience in data migration, integration and reporting
  • Experience in development of data migration scripts (extraction, conversion, reconciliation, cleansing)
  • Has contributed to an end-to-end vision for the data integrity across various applications across a given landscape (ideally HR data integrated with Active Directory, payroll, and other consumers of HR data)

Languages

  • English and French are the working languages of MSF Switzerland. Fluency in both English and French is required for this position (oral and written).

Skills/ Technical competencies

  • Excellent proficiency in data analysis, data modeling, and using these skills to influence process definition.
  • Proficiency with data management tools, with the ability to implement them effectively in a low data maturity context.
  • Ability to work within cross-functional teams on strategic projects, bringing a data-focused perspective: data catalog, data cleansing, data migration.
  • Strong communication skills and active collaboration to design the desired data flow and structure.
  • Ability to collaborate with IT, HR, legal, and compliance teams to ensure data security.
  • Previous experience as a data analyst is required, with experience in HR projects being a plus
  • Familiar with requirements and knownledge management tools such as Jira, Microsoft Sharepoint, Visio

Terms of Employment

  • Vacancy for 2 positions
  • Full-time position 100% (40h/week)
  • Fixed-term contract, 18 months
  • Working place: Geneva, Switzerland
  • Ideal start date: January 6th, 2025
  • Gross annual salary (for 100%): from CHF 93’504.- to CHF 107’280.- (salary commensurate with equivalent experience and internal salary grid)
  • Paid vacation: 25 days per year, prorate temporis, plus any Swiss public holidays falling within the contract period.
  • Pension plan: pension contribution covered 3/4 by MSF, 1/4 by staff member.
  • Relocation package if moving from a different country to Switzerland.
