Position Summary:
 
Experimental Tissue Resource is a shares resource of Chao Comprehensive Cancer Center and Pathology Department. Serves clinical trials histology requests, as well as human and animal tissue histology for basic research.
 
The Histotechnologist prepares and processes tissue specimens for microscopic examination by the Pathologist/ Researcher. The incumbent will collect, accept and recognize specimens as they arrive in the lab; assist in the selection of appropriate fixatives; embed and cut sections; and stain and mount on a slide surgical, neurological, bone marrow, and autopsy tissue sections so that the presence or absence of disease may be effectively demonstrated to the Pathologist. Will prepare solutions and perform special stain techniques in addition to immunoperioxidase and immunofluorescence procedures. Performs duties in the frozen section area and Experimental Tissue Resource as needed. Maintains laboratory inventory and equipment, keeps Quality Control records of work performed, and tracks / records the work performed.

$33.58 – $37.82

ASCP certified histotechnician
ASCP certified histotechnician Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the organization Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload A minimum of one year experience and the ability to embed and perform special stains
 
Preferred:
 
Ability to learn to use electronic medical records and inventory systems Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
