Job Description

Aecom Sudbury is looking for a Highway CAD lead.

Design and Project Coordination

  • Assist project managers with coordination of transportation projects for roadway design

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including; traffic specialists, environmental planners, structural engineers, engineering technologists, administrative support staff, among others

  • Collaborate and coordinate with design team to achieve project goals

  • Actively participate in the design process by producing detailed engineering drawings and provide input to the design team throughout a projects lifecycle

  • Mentor and coach junior drafting staff

  • Review drawings completed by junior staff to ensure compliance with client’s drafting standards

  • Coordinate project tasks effectively among junior staff to maximize productivity and satisfy project schedules

  • Implement design procedures and techniques to better help support designers, technicians, and project managers

  • Responsible for organized note keeping and file management

  • Occasional on-site verifications to examine field conditions in conjunction with a projects design

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Technical Civil Diploma + 4 years experience in drafting and designing roadway or highway design projects

  • 4+ years experience working with AutoCAD software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ideally 5+ years experience in drafting and designing rodway and highway projects

  • Knowledge of industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices

  • Experience in developing, using and interpreting construction drawings

  • Strong working knowledge of Ontario Ministry of Transportation provincial standard drawings (OPSD)

  • Experience with Microstation, OpenRoads Designer software or InRoads software will be considered an asset

  • Field and construction inspection experience will be considered an asset

  • Ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients

  • Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment

  • Self-motivated and dependable as an individual and in a team focused environment

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong technical, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.

  • “Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position typically is $60,000 – $85,000.”
