CEMML is a research, education and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at CSU. CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DOD) and other public lands. The Heavy Equipment Operator will operate heavy equipment such as: 10 to 25 ton dump trucks (25 ton off road dumps at some locations) dozers, motor graders, front-in loaders, vibratory compactors, scrapers, forestry mowers (FECON), track hoes, agricultural tractors, and back hoes for the purpose of completing Forestry projects. Primary functions are soil stabilization and vegetation management on Army lands. This position will also require tracking and preparing monthly and quarterly reports. The successful candidate must reside in the Installation vicinity; telecommuting is not available for this position.

- Qualifications
- Required Qualifications:
• A High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED), or equivalent required.
• The successful candidate must have a valid Georgia Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL) or be able to obtain a Georgia Class A CDL by the employment start date.
• 2 years professional experience.
• Experience with running and maintaining heavy equipment.
• Must be skilled in the operation, maintenance and repair of bulldozers, dump trucks, excavators, front-end loaders, whole tree chippers and tractor-trailer trucks.
• Ability to maneuver equipment in confined areas.
• Possess basic knowledge of terrain and soil composition in order to determine approach for equipment.
• Ability to read maps, aerial photographs, and compasses. Familiar with installation roads, bridges, and access ways.
• Required to have ability, licenses, medical certificates and certifications to operate all Forestry heavy equipment over paved and dirt roads.
• Physically able to perform strenuous labor outdoors in all types of weather and hazardous working conditions including intense heat and humidity as well as smoke situations encountered during prescribed burns.
• Be able to follow directions, work collectively with others as a team, and maintain safe working standards
• Able to lift 40 pounds repeatedly.
• Must obtain and maintain Georgia Level 1A Erosion and Sedimentation Certification required for moving/disturbing soil within the first 90 days of employment.
• Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification within the first 90 days of employment.
• The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United States
by proposed start date. CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
• Candidate must be able to comply with all applicable regulations to obatin a Common Access Card (CAC. Furthermore, candidates are required at a minimum to complete a NACI/SF85 and successfully pass a federal background check to remain eligible for employment by CSU. - Contact Person
