Position Profile: The School of Health Studies invites applications for two Limited-term faculty appointments to teach in the School’s large undergraduate Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc) program, and contribute to the Faculty wide Health & Rehabilitation Sciences graduate program, Advanced Health Care Practice graduate program and the Interfaculty Program in Public Health. The appointments begin July 1, 2026 (or as negotiated) as two-year, renewable Limited-term positions at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Academic Expectations: The successful candidates will have a demonstrated capacity to contribute to a diverse academic community and the School of Health Studies Strategic Plan. They will be required to teach a range of courses that fall within the Six Dimensions of Health and Wellbeing (physical, mental, interpersonal, ecological, sociocultural, sociopolitical). Preference will be given to candidates able to design and deliver curriculum related to health promotion, public health, and/or experiential learning or sociopolitical determinants of health, or those examining inequitable health outcomes related to genomics and precision medicine. The candidates will provide high-quality instruction in both traditional and flexible learning environments and contribute to curriculum development that strengthens applied and experiential learning. The position will have a workload of 80% Teaching and 20% Service. Successful candidates will have opportunities to connect with FHS’s research Centres and Institutes (e.g. Centre for Bioethics Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging, Centre for Research on Health Equity and Social Inclusion and the Rotman Institute of Philosophy) as well as the Centre for Teaching and Learning.

Qualifications or Experience and Skills Required: Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in one or more areas of health sciences that align with the six dimensions of health and wellbeing. The School is particularly interested in expertise related to health promotion, public health and/or experiential learning or sociopolitical determinants of health (e.g., but not limited to, geopolitical drivers of health or health systems, armed conflict, or war) or those examining inequitable health outcomes related to genomics and precision medicine. Applicants must be committed to providing high quality, innovative and contemporary teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate level, in line with Western’s Data Strategy as well as its Indigenous Strategic Plan. Candidates must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and show evidence of contributing to equity, diversity, and inclusion within academic or professional settings.
