Health Sciences & Science Liaison Librarian

The University of Manitoba Libraries seeks to fill the position of Health Sciences & Science Liaison Librarian at a General, Assistant or Associate Librarian rank to begin May 1, 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter. These positions normally have a two-year probationary period, and the salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in library and/or information studies from an ALA-accredited or equivalent institution;
• Demonstrated experience providing reference and research services;
• Demonstrated experience in the areas of teaching and instructional support;
• Knowledge and understanding of best practices, current issues, and trends in academic libraries;
• Demonstrated ability to manage a complex workload in a timely and effective manner;
• Effective oral and written communication skills;
• Demonstrated teamwork, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.

Candidates with the following additional qualifications will be preferred:

• Experience in a health sciences, sciences, or similar library;
• A minimum of two years professional experience in an academic library;
• Post-secondary degree in the health sciences, sciences, or related field;
• Experience using bibliographic databases such as PubMed, Medline, Embase, CINAHL, or Web of Science;
• Familiarity with evidence synthesis, including different types of reviews;
• Experience with the development and management of library collections.
