Edmonton Zone Continuing Care (CCEZ) provides services through five main program areas: Home Living, Supportive Living, Facility Living, Specialty Services and Transition Services. The Health Educator is a member of the Continuing Care (CC) Education & Practice Development team in the Edmonton Zone (EZ). This position is responsible for leading the planning, development, delivery, maintenance, and evaluation of CC orientation and education. In addition, the position supports the clinical practice of frontline staff, and collaborates with partners both provincially and across all operational areas in CC. Key Responsibilities: Plans, develops, delivers, maintains, and evaluates orientation and education for clinical and non-clinical new staff in CC. Collaborates with program areas to identify gaps in knowledge that span across CC; plans and develops education to promote clinical competency to address gaps. Works with program-based educators, professional practice leads, clinical quality consultants and frontline staff to further facilitate CC program level initiatives. Collaborates with provincial and CC stakeholders related to changes in policy, procedures, protocols, clinical practice initiatives and technology that impacts and supports best practice and quality improvement. Offers in time learning that impacts frontline clinicians to respond to priorities and meet learner needs. Adheres to a professional Code of Ethics and AHS policies and procedures. As a regulated health professional, the Health Educator is responsible and accountable for his/her practice as defined by their regulatory college.

As a Health Educator, you will promote existing courses, as well as develop, coordinate and deliver educational activities to support staff learning based on a patient-centered care model. You will collaborate with Health Educators from all the Zones and relevant initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the applicable college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Baccalaureate Degree in Health Sciences required from an accredited university (OT, PT, Dietician, Speech Language Pathologist, Social Worker etc.) Active registration & practice permit with the appropriate regulatory college. Basic Cardiac Life Support-Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP). A minimum of 3 years of recent health care experience is required, also a broad knowledge of programs offered by the Continuing Care portfolio. Demonstrated effective communication, interpersonal & organizational skills. Proven ability to establish, foster & maintain effective working partnerships (both internally & externally) to achieve organizational goals within assigned work. Established leadership & facilitation skills. Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, & initiative. Experienced in using data for quality improvement. Technical skills in computer software & programs such as Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Zoom and MS Teams to deliver virtual education. Demonstrates clear patterns of professional & personal development. Physical Exertion: Frequent physical demands including lifting, pulling, & pushing, & moving equipment; standing for extended periods; sitting for extended periods. The successful candidate will work at different sites throughout the zone & must be able to carry supply bags which weigh approx. 35-50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

5 years’ experience working in Continuing Care as a front-line clinician or educator. Master’s Degree in health sciences, business, or education. Experience as an educator, facilitator, or trainer. Certification in project management or quality improvement.
