The Royal Veterinary College is a research led institution with 88% of its research rated as internationally excellent or world class in REF2021. As one of the world’s leading specialist veterinary and biological science research institutions, the RVC brings together talented individuals; all of whom share a passion for human and animal health and welfare.
A new fixed-term opportunity has arisen to join the Research and Innovation Office (RIO) on an interim basis as Head of Research Grants Management (maternity cover). Leading the team that provides support to academics and researchers across the full range of research and knowledge exchange activities at RVC, this role covers both pre-award and post-award financial administration. Applicants should have an in-depth understanding of research funding, significant experience in the financial and non-financial management of awards, and the ability to lead and motivate a team.
The post-holder will be responsible for managing workloads across the team, delivering training and developing guidance as well as taking personal ownership for large or complex matters and ensuring deadlines for applications and financial reporting are met.
This is a varied role with opportunities to make vital contributions to the ongoing development of our research and innovation support alongside other members of the RIO leadership team.
The RVC offer a generous benefits package:
- Competitive and attractive pension package
- Generous 30 days annual leave (plus bank holidays and concessionary days)
- On site café and restaurant
- Free membership to the on site gym
- Cycle to work scheme
- A range of family friendly policies, including adoption, maternity and paternity pay and leave
We would welcome applicants looking for either a fixed term role or applicants from other similar institutions who would be interested in this role as an external secondment opportunity for personal development.
Potential applicants wishing to discuss this position informally are encouraged to contact Claire Bensusan, Director Of Research and Innovation Services. [email protected]
We promote equality of opportunity and diversity within the workplace and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
