Job Overview

The Lindner College of Business is ready to take its marketing communications to the next level with the addition of a Graphic Designer. The Graphic Designer will round out an award-winning marketing communications team that serves the entire college and collaborates across the university to emulate best and next practices in the marketing communications discipline. The Graphic Designer will coordinate, develop and see to production, print and digital media that helps the college meaningfully engage with its many audiences In this role, they will effectively leverage the university’s brand assets to lay out and see to production deliverables such as mailers, brochures, reports, advertisements, social media graphics, flyers, digital signage and more based on college needs.

 

The Graphic Designer will report within the Marketing Communications team structure, which is part of the college’s Strategic Operations.

Essential Functions

  • Act as a steward of the UC brand, utilizing knowledge of current graphic design software to produce ADA-compliant, high-impact designs.
  • Generate, proofread and edit college collateral that leverages and maintains design standards as determined by UC brand guidelines.
  • Participate in job training when/as required. Examples include staying abreast of technological advances in the field; recommending alternate approaches to design and production for cost-effective printed materials; maintaining records and files.
  • Advise, collaborate with teams or internal clients, make recommendations and decisions related to design, ideas, approach, costs and technical specifications, take direction from leadership and use constructive criticism in a positive way to elevate designs and improve skills.
  • Participate in shared management of the Lindner Podcast Studio with the possibility of equipment training.
  • Liaise with external partners (printers, suppliers, etc.) for assigned projects, writing specifications for printing, supplies, bids, etc.
  • Perform related duties as assigned or based on departmental need.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Experience in graphic design or related field.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • One (1) year of experience related to graphic design or visual communications.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience creating original content using industry-standard software for a variety of different mediums, including print and digital.
  • Solid understanding of digital and design technology and willingness to learn new platforms as needed.
  • Organized, deadline-oriented designer who can work quickly with an excellent eye for detail.
  • Motivated and accountable self-starter who can manage personal workload and tackle challenges with a customer-centric attitude.
  • Good writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience and proficiency in video, motion graphics and/or multimedia production.
  • Experience in Canva.
  • Experience coordinating and assisting photoshoots or videoshoots.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
