The Student Life Graphic Design Internship is a hands-on development experience for students to gain knowledge about how creative and collaborative teams work to execute design needs in a fast-paced environment. Skills learned will be transferable to full-time positions in the graphic design field. Learning outcomes include increasing design software skills, gaining experience working with design professionals, enhancing brand design experience, concepting, prepess and marketing experience as well.
Work responsibilities will include assisting the Student Life Marketing Graphics team in the creation of marketing and promotional designs throughout the entirety of Student Life; assists in creating designs for Student Organizations; responsible for learning Student Life brand guidelines; responsible for comprehensive knowledge of University Marketing brand guidelines. Assists with day-to-day projects, developing concepts and designs for various Student Life marketing promotions. Including but not limited to print collateral, promotional items, digital media (social, motion graphics, digital screens). Support marketing and design needs of student organizations through development of logos, t-shirts/apparel and other design requests. Collaborating and communicating with professional staff (designers, creative projects manager, marketing specialists). Accountable for any projects assigned by full-time staff. Responsible for communicating roadblocks and reporting project status to full-time staff.
Other development and administrative duties as assigned, such as retrieving/delivering proofs to/from UniPrint, adhering to server organization and basecamp guidelines. Email and in person correspondence with student org clients. Cutting, mounting projects such as event posters and other physical mock ups. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Student must be enrolled in a degree-granting program.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Microsoft Office, excellent communication skills, current design portfolio available for review.
Additional Information:
This position will be offered an hourly pay rate of $10.50-$12.00 per hour.
This internship is temporary on a semester basis and has potential to be extended through the next semester.
