Grant Developer

  • Based in Research and Innovation Services at the City West Campus
  • Full-time, continuing position
  • Commencement Salary: $104,143 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)


About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a
Grant Developer to join the Research and Innovation Services team.
You will play a key role in building strategic relationships with
the University community to effectively identify, promote and
support the development of quality applications and proposals to
capitalise on competitive research funding opportunities for UniSA.

Working under broad direction, you will be responsible for the
allocation of resources to ensure the provision of strategic and
proactive advice and service to researchers and will also have a
hands-on approach in supporting researchers. This role will ensure
applications fulfil research funding scheme requirements, are of a
high quality, competitive, and meet key deadlines.

Research and Innovation Services (RIS)
supports the Deputy Vice Chancellor: Research and Enterprise to
realise strategic and operational initiatives. This is achieved by
positioning UniSA to be responsive to the changing local, national
and international environment and the delivery of high quality,
effective support services to researchers and decision makers.

Areas of research service activity
span research grant development, negotiation and management of
research contracts, post award administration and management
research infrastructure, research integrity, research ethics and
compliance, and implementing strategic initiatives to improve the
quality of researcher training and development to support capacity
and capability development in research.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage and provide credible and
    accessible strategic advice, mentoring and guidance to researchers
    across UniSA
  • Manage and support the development
    of grant and funding submissions and steward project applications
    and awards through to the research contracting stage
  • Support Manager: Research Project
    Development in the management and administration of the Research
    Projects Development team
  • Support Deans of Research and
    Research Coordinators in establishing peer review panels for
    assessing grant and funding proposals
  • Manage and implement strategies for
    equitable grant development support to applicants for research
    funding schemes

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in a
    relevant discipline and significant experience in research grant
    development, writing and editing
  • Experience planning, developing and
    writing/editing external research funding applications and
    proposals or technical materials of a research nature, preferably
    within the higher education sector
  • Demonstrated experience in, and
    knowledge of current developments in the Australian research
    landscape, research policy and practice, national and internal
    funding schemes and an ability to translate these into building
    research income and impact
  • Capability to build and manage
    productive networks with Government agencies, diverse industry
    sectors, research organisations and not for profit sectors
  • Ability to understand and interpret
    policies, procedures, and funding requirements of external agencies
