Graduate Student Position, Molecular Genetics (MSc or PhD)

The Wu laboratory at the University of Saskatchewan is currently recruiting prospective M.Sc. or Ph.D. students to undertake research in the areas of stress biology and aging. The Wu lab takes a molecular genetics approach using the model system Caenorhabditis elegans to study aging biology and mechanism of age-related diseases with respect to environmental chemical exposure. Currently, an active area of interest is in understanding how environmental stress affects RNA metabolism and histone processing in the context of stress resistance and aging. The prospective student will be able to work and learn state of the art molecular genetics techniques (e.g. CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, RNAi-mediated gene silencing) and develop skills in high-throughput genetic and chemical screens.
