Graduate Research Assistant

Primary Purpose: Research assistant for mixed methodology Nursing education focused research.  If you have an interest in innovative Nursing education design, delivery, and evaluation and are comfortable with the use of educational and communications technology, this position may be for you.     

Nature of Work:  The successful applicant will work closely with a tenure track nursing faculty member and their team on a number of virtual reality related project and College initiatives.  This role involves both research and administrative tasks including.   

Typical Duties or Accountabilities: The successful applicant will support research activities of faculty in the College of Nursing. This will involve conducting literature searches. assisting in preparation of grant applications, ethics approval application, data collection events, and research task scheduling. Daily duties will involve both administrative and research tasks to support faculty needs.   

Education: Current enrollment in the undergraduate nursing education program is preferred but not required.  

Licenses: NA

Experience: Previous experience as a research assistant and demonstrated experience and proficiency in literature searches are an asset but not a requirement, mentorship and access to skills workshops/conferences will be provided.  Experience/knowledge in both qualitative and quantitative research and preparing grant and ethics applications would be a definite asset.

Skills: The ideal applicant would possess the following skills:

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work independently while closely following detailed instructions
  • Ability to exercise tact, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a strong team environment
  • Possess strong time management, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment
  • Proficient computer skills in Excel, Access and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with data management and analysis software such as SPSS, NVivo, Atlas.ti is an asset
  • Some travel may be required to Northern, and Yorkton based distributed learning sites and main campuses in Prince Albert and Regina.
