Job Description Summary The Romain College of Business at the University of Southern Indiana seeks applications for a Graduate Program Recruitment and Retention Specialist. This position is the professional administrator of the graduate program(s) in the Romain College of Business (RCOB), and it is responsible for recruiting and retaining students in RCOB graduate programs to ensure program sustainability.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Advise students majoring in graduate programs in the Romain College of Business
  • Monitor students’ academic progress
  • Assist students and faculty with class registration activities
  • Resolve issues related to student academic progress and fulfillment of graduation requirements
  • Assess the unmet educational needs of the business community and work with program directors to recommend courses of action to meet those needs
  • Assist program director(s) with evaluating existing policies and procedures to identify areas for improvement
  • Coordinate with Graduate Studies on applicant admissions
  • Manage general office operations; processing paperwork to support academic program(s) including fiscal and personnel records, hold removals, academic probation/dismissal notifications, eligibility for graduation, transfers, and exceptions to prescribed program with director approval.
  • Compile and interpret data for the Graduate Program Director, Romain College of Business Advising Center Director and the Dean’s Office to aid in evaluating student progress and program effectiveness; works with program director(s) to recommends changes or improvements.
  • Coordinate Graduate Assistant assignments

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in recruitment and/or student support preferred.
  • Ability to make decisions independently required.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data required.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience working with a student information system (e.g. BANNER, etc.) preferred.
  • Knowledge of microcomputers, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and electronic mail required.
  • Ability to successfully recruit students and promote RCOB graduate program(s)
  • Understanding of business community to be served by the program
  • Demonstrated ability to assume academic advising responsibility
  • Excellent organization skills in addition to the ability to coordinate multiple tasks, determine priorities, set deadlines, and complete projects.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements:

  • This is a 12-month, full-time position located on campus in Evansville, Indiana.
  • Standard office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours required for University activities.
  • Occasional travel required during professional activities and professional development.

Working Relationships:

  • Reports to the Graduate Program Director and the Dean’s Office.
  • Work in conjunction with the Romain College of Business faculty and Advising Center on advising activities.
  • Works with a diverse group of internal and external individuals.
