Normal Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm, 20 hours per week. May require evening hours and weekends.

Job Summary: The University of Alabama College of Arts and Sciences and the Graduate School seek a graduate assistant for the Spring 2023 to provide on-campus support for a grant-funded project related to Pakistan’s higher education system.

Additional Department Summary: The compensation is $20 per hour (20 hours per week, from start date through the conclusion of the Spring semester) in addition to a full-tuition scholarship for the Spring 2023 and single coverage in the university’s student health insurance plan.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be full-time Graduate Students enrolled in a degree-seeking program and maintaining a minimum 3.00 GPA. Applicants must also have strong oral and written communication skills as well as the interest and ability to work with international education issues.

Skills and Knowledge: The University of Alabama College of Arts and Sciences and the Graduate School seek a Graduate Assistant for Spring 2023 to provide on-campus support for a grant-funded project related to Pakistan’s higher education system. Duties of the graduate assistant include but are not limited to:

  • Planning and logistics related to faculty travel to Pakistan and UA campus visits by Pakistani groups of educators
  • Planning and logistics for the schedules of the visiting groups of educators
  • Supporting virtual programming and two online courses in addition to internet-based research to support the content of the workshops
  • Other duties related to supporting the goals of the grant
  • Preferred Qualifications: Students with experience in project management, organization activities, and/or event planning are preferred. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and communicate with faculty, staff, and guests from Pakistan. Speaking knowledge of Urdu is also helpful by not required. International experience is helpful but not required.

    Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
