The Opportunity:

The Graduate Admissions Coordinator is the center point of contact for students and the English Department when questions arise during the admissions process. The Graduate Admissions Coordinator serves as the primary information source for prospective graduate students providing personalized service to applicant inquiries. Assists with all tasks include admission, scheduling, registration, evaluation, finances, and assisting the Program Directors as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with staff, faculty, and graduate students. Involves keeping contracts and other important information up-to-date, graduate student advising, and close work with the faculty administrator for the program.

  • Advises Graduate students on admissions requirements and enrollment. Notifies students of admission, readmission, registration, and/or graduation requirements and procedures.

  • Promptly responds to student inquiries regarding program and readmission requirements, degree audits, and assistantships/fellowships. Maintains student admission, enrollment, and assessment records.

  • Reviews and evaluates applications to ensure minimum qualifications are met. Creates and maintains all graduate admissions files, updates all student information in appropriate databases, maintains accuracy and integrity of all graduate admissions databases and student files.

  • GTA contracts and other paperwork.

  • Student management in orientation, advising, and admissions.

  • Document maintenance (including web), listserv administration, event scheduling, Graduate Fair, liaison with College and Graduate Studies.

  • Staff and/or faculty search committees.

  • Front desk coverage when needed

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s and 2+ years of relevant experience or Masters degree and 0+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years appropriate academic administrative experience
