The Opportunity:
The University of Central Florida (UCF) is seeking to hire two (2) Graduate Admissions Coordinator I positions. Positions to be filled are # P16213 and # P37018.
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of University Admissions, this position supports the College of Graduate Studies, graduate programs, and prospective, and incoming graduate students throughout the graduate admissions process. The primary responsibility is to recruit, evaluate, and participate in the selection of candidates for admission to targeted market segments as assigned. Attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and a strong work ethic are key characteristics for anyone in this position.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate and process graduate applications and supporting materials to ensure College of Graduate Studies policies and university admission regulations are met. Independently reviews and approves admissions actions by graduate programs to determine if applicants meet minimum Board of Education (BOE) and Board of Governors (BOG) and university standards for admission or readmission to graduate status.
Responsible for management and control of all admissions decisions and related issues. Calculates necessary baccalaureate, master’s, or doctoral GPA for admissions in compliance with university admissions standards. Authorizes application holds and removal of holds when the file becomes complete. Admits and denies certain students without graduate program approval.
Compiles and organizes data for statistical surveys and reports to the Director of Admissions, the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies, Institutional Knowledge Management, and BOE. Evaluate and clear all assigned student record clean-up audits in the student database system.
Collaborates with graduate program faculty & staff to answer questions related to graduate admissions regulations, policies, and procedures. Addresses questions, concerns, and problems regarding the graduate application review system and other technologies used throughout the admissions process to provide support to our campus partners.
Serves as liaison between applicants and graduate programs staff. Responds to student inquiries and counsel graduate students about application and admissions policies/procedures. Reviews and evaluates the application and academic credentials to advise applicants.
Investigates problems regarding student files and assist students with registration, class schedule, and website navigation. Communicates with faculty and staff to resolve student registration issues. Evaluate and process graduate applications and application materials using PeopleSoft, Slate, and other College of Graduate Students technology.
Provides helpful and timely customer service for prospective students via phone, email, or other technologies and answers questions for prospective students. Assists with the implementation of regular communication strategies with prospective students from initial inquiry through enrollment. Represents the University and the College of Graduate Studies at recruitment events as needed, requiring travel within the state of Florida as well as out-of-state travel. Assists in planning, organizing, and implementing of all recruitment activities and needs. Facilitates presentations, training, or other workshops for prospective students or current faculty and staff related to graduate admissions. Directly trains and supervises OPS staff assigned to the admissions area.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Director-Admissions, the Director of Admissions, the Associate Dean, or the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s and 2+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree and 0+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to develop innovative ways to improve flow and accuracy.
Thorough knowledge of graduate admissions best practices, Board of Education, and University rules and regulations.
Knowledge of Slate, PeopleSoft, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Prior recruitment experience.
