Join
the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), a leading polytechnic
institution in Alberta, as we expand our government relations team by welcoming
a Government Relations and Policy Coordinator.
In
this dynamic position, we seek an individual who is proactive, adaptable, and
possesses exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. The ideal
candidate will have an understanding of the political and bureaucratic dynamics
at all levels of government, coupled with a track record of success in
researching and analyzing emerging policy and legislative changes.
As
part of NAIT’s commitment to maintaining strong relationships with internal and
external stakeholders, this role will support the Director of Government
Relations in implementing strategies to advance the institution’s priorities.
Our vision is to remain the most relevant and responsive post-secondary
institute in Canada, and this role plays a pivotal part in achieving that goal.
Key
Accountabilities:
- Assist the Director of
Government Relations in developing strategies to enhance institutional
priorities. - Prepare various
documents and materials, such as reports, briefs, communication guides, and
presentations. - Conduct research and
analysis on emerging issues across municipal, provincial, and federal
government landscapes that is relevant to the post-secondary landscape. - Collaborate with NAIT
team members to plan and coordinate activities involving government and public
stakeholders. - Perform administrative
duties as needed, including scheduling and digital file management.
Skills
& Abilities:
- Strong organizational and project management abilities,
with a track record of meeting timelines and milestones independently. - Creative thinking skills coupled with the ability to
synthesize information and implement solutions with sound judgment. - Establish, maintain, and update a network of contacts
across government and stakeholder levels. - Familiarity with the current provincial policy
environment and legislative procedures is advantageous. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary
education in political studies, public relations, communications, or a related
field. - Minimum of 3-5
years of experience in government, government relations, or public affairs. - Knowledge of
the post-secondary system is an asset.
Remuneration: Classification
is currently under review. (Classification – under review).
