Southern Cross University

2 x PhD scholarships on goal setting in personal injury rehabilitation, in partnership with LeapForward and QBE Insurance

Background: Southern Cross University, LeapForward, and QBE Insurance are pleased to offer 2 fully funded PhD scholarships commencing in 2023.

This is an excellent opportunity to conduct innovative research in partnership with leading organisations, and will be suited to individuals who are interested in psychology, sport and exercise science, rehabilitation, or health technology. The PhDs will be conducted in a highly supportive environment, with strong career development and networking opportunities, as well as excellent supervision and mentoring.

The successful candidates will receive a scholarship starting at $29,863 p.a. (with annual increases) for 3 years and 3 months, as well as a tuition fee waiver. Applicants must be Australian or New Zealand citizens, and must meet the entry requirements to enrol in a PhD at Southern Cross University, including a second-class Honours or above from a relevant discipline.

Project focus: These PhD scholarships will aim to identify how to optimise goal setting in personal injury rehabilitation. They will focus on comparing various types of goals to understand which options are most effective for improving overall health and ultimately return-to-work, and wider claim, outcomes – to help move towards new models of best practice that achieve better outcomes for clients within personal injury schemes. The projects will also have a strong emphasis on disseminating findings through QBE, LeapForward and wider industry to inform practice and guide industry frameworks on a large scale.
