Global Communications & Fundraising Manager (Global Affairs and Communications Unit) [based in Seoul]

We are seeking a Global Communications & Fundraising Manager for 2-year-regular position (renewable) to work within Global Affairs and Communications Unit at the International Vaccine Institute in Seoul, Korea. (Duty station: Seoul, Korea)

Job Description

Lead the development and delivery of high-quality content that translates IVI’s institutional, scientific, and programmatic work into clear, compelling narratives. Strengthen global, digital, donor, and external communications to enhance IVI’s visibility, credibility, impact, and fundraising goals.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Content Development and Storytelling

  • Lead the development of written content, translating complex information into clear, engaging narratives that combine creativity with scientific precision.
  • Conduct interviews and develop storytelling on projects, partnerships, and institutional priorities.
  • Review, edit, and copyedit materials to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency with IVI’s style and standards.
  • Draft speeches, op-eds, messaging, and content in support of institutional and executive communications.
  • Lead the production of content for multimedia formats, including video scripts and photo captions.
  • Develop long-form and strategic content that supports institutional communications, donor engagement, leadership visibility, and external outreach.
  • Ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency across all communications products and institutional materials.

2. Fundraising and Resource Mobilization Communications

  • Lead the development and implementation of communications products and campaigns that support IVI’s fundraising, donor engagement, and resource mobilization objectives.
  • Produce donor-focused content and multimedia storytelling products—including impact stories, beneficiary narratives, campaign materials, digital content, videos, social media assets, photography, and web content—that demonstrate the value and impact of IVI’s
    work and support fundraising and donor acquisition efforts among public audiences, including key markets such as the United States.
  • Collaborate with partnership and program teams to translate scientific, technical, and programmatic achievements into compelling communications materials and fundraising narratives that strengthen donor stewardship, engagement, and resource mobilization
    efforts.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of fundraising and communications campaigns across digital and other channels, using audience reach, engagement, conversion, and funds raised to inform strategy, demonstrate impact, and improve performance.

3. Digital Communications and Platforms

  • Lead content planning and management for IVI’s website and social media platforms to ensure timely, accurate, and engaging institutional communications.
  • Monitor and analyze digital performance metrics and apply insights to optimize content and platform effectiveness.
  • Oversee the management and organization of video and photo assets for use across digital and institutional platforms.

4. Communications Infrastructure and Coordination

  • Lead and continuously improve editorial planning tools, content review processes, communications tracking systems, and institutional materials.
  • Coordinate and guide communications activities across internal teams and partners to deliver timely and high-quality outputs.
  • Coordinate communications activities across international and cross-cultural contexts.

5. Media, Impact, and Stakeholder Communications

  • Support media outreach and draft content that positions IVI experts as credible global health voices.
  • Contribute to the identification, tracking, and communication of project milestones and institutional achievements.
  • Coordinate communications for events, announcements, and partner engagement.
  • Support executive communications through the development of speeches, statements, thought leadership content, and social media materials.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

1. Education Requirements

  • BA in communications, journalism, English, international relations, public health, or related field.

2. Related Field Work Experience

  • Minimum 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in communications, journalism, media, or related fields. Experience in international organizations, global health, or non-profit sectors is desirable. Experience supporting fundraising, philanthropy, donor engagement, or resource mobilization communications is beneficial.

3. Technical and Professional Skills / Knowledge

  • Excellent English writing and editing skills; ability to translate complex technical content into compelling narratives for diverse audiences; strong editorial judgment, project management, and coordination skills; experience with web, social media, analytics, media relations, and digital communications tools; and knowledge of fundraising and resource mobilization communications.

4. Key Competency

  • Strong writing and organization; editorial judgment; attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities independently; collaboration with diverse stakeholders; cross-cultural communication; sound professional judgment; independent and team-oriented work style.

5. Language Proficiency

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) required.
  • Knowledge of additional languages an asset.
