Essential Duties

1. Cleans and maintains areas such as, but not limited to, kitchens, dining rooms, and basements. 2. Washes dishes, pots and pans. 3. With proper instruction, relamps and cleans light fixtures and chandeliers. 4. Cleans, washes and shampoos rugs, floors and walls. 5. Uses equipment such as, but not limited to, dishwashing machines, rug shampoo machines, pot washing machines, high pressure washers and steam cleaners. 6. Assists other employees in the performance of their jobs, as directed by responsible supervisors, using the necessary equipment in the performance of these jobs. 7. Observes safety standards and practices. 8. Performs related duties as required or assigned within job classification. Note: Performs above duties and responsibilities in a more complex or unique situation than in the typical Yale College Dining Hall.

Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. 390 hours of food production work experience at an institutional food service location or full service restaurant environment.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Ability to read, write, follow written instructions and to handle mathematics pertinent to the job.

Physical Requirements

1. Sustained standing; frequent bending. 2. Occasional overhead work.  3. Move both arms and shoulders as necessary while working with equipment and/or heavy materials.  4. Move, lift, assemble and carry supplies, equipment, furniture and/or materials weighing up to 60 pounds without assistance from the floor up to waist height and/or equipment up or down stairs. 5. Pull and/or push heavy Buscko carts, skids using pallet jack, and/or containers, etc.  6. Climb ladders up to 12 feet high when necessary.  7. Work in confined areas (truck, van, etc.) and stepping in and out of a vehicle.  8. Work outside in all kinds of weather in job classification.
