General Manager

Western Veterinary Specialist and Emergency Centre has an excellent career opportunity for an experienced General Manager . Under the guidance of the Regional Director, and working closely with the Medical Director, the successful candidate will supervise and direct team members in an established and growing hospital ensuring operational and service excellence.

In this role you will be passionate about providing leadership and development for a multifaceted team. You understand and prepare for possible challenges that General Managers encounter; people, processes and administrative challenges. This does not phase you because you will be proactive in connecting with your teams and leaders regularly. In this role you will require strong organizational, administrative and people skills to meet occurring deadlines and related company goals. Key responsibilities and attributes for this role are;

• Strong leadership skills: fostering people relationships, creating exceptional client experience and fostering VCA Canada’s amazing culture

• Exceptional interpersonal skills in working with your colleagues, pet parents and the community

• Adaptable; the ability to adapt to change in a growing multifaceted client service and animal health industry

• Change management; the ability to drive and manage positive change – people, processes and growth

• Experience with managing multiple Team Leads who supervise approximately 4 – 8 staff per department; delegate, motivate and coordinate.

• Proven ability to work in a busy and sometimes demanding environment where priorities can shift often

• Experience with financial reports and how to leverage the data to make sound decisions

• Administrative skills: scheduling staff, document control, filing, various reporting and coordinating office services (equipment/supplies/forms/procedures)
