Position Overview
The Fund Management Consultant is part of the Gift Agreement & Endowment Services (GAES) team in Advancement and is responsible for leading and implementing effective methods for ensuring financial accountability of donor-supported funds, working closely with colleagues in development, colleges, medical center, and units. identifies data requirements to support stewardship strategies and reports; compiles, analyzes, and monitors data related to donor-supported funds; partners with and supports college, medical center, and unit staff in reviewing funds and communicating with fund administrators to ensure funds are utilized as intended; produces routine and ad hoc customized reports about donor-supported funds. advises staff, helps to simplify and resolve issues related to financial and gift policies, and may occasionally talk with donors to explain the same. Serves as the liaison to the Office of Business and Finance and may at times represent GAES at senior fiscal officer meetings and other related university meetings. Serves as a Functional Lead for Fund Management Reporting, providing ongoing input and support for fund management tools.
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual with strong knowledge of financial and gift policies, excellent skills in working with and communicating financial data and intermediate level experience with Microsoft Excel and data analysis software such as Tableau. operates with a high degree of independence, decision-making capabilities, judgment, and consistency. must be able to manage multiple projects at once, have strong customer service orientation, experience building collaborative relationships and have strong written and verbal communication skills.

About the Office of Estate and Gift Planning
The Office of Estate and Gift Planning serves as a resource for all charitable estate planning for the university, including charitable trusts, gift annuities, bequests and real estate gifts. Our office assists individuals in structuring a prudent gift plan that integrates their financial and estate planning goals with their interests in supporting the university. Estate and Gift Planning officers assist and collaborate with development officers in prospect strategy discussions and with the preparation of gift proposals for donors. Our office handles administration on all estate gifts to the colleges and units of the university.

Defines and implements effective methods for ensuring financial accountability of donor-supported funds. Works closely with colleagues in Development and across the university including but not limited to reporting services, IT, financial services, college/unit development and stewardship staff, college/unit fiscal staff, student financial aid, and other partners to ensure funds are utilized in accordance with specific donor restrictions governing the funds. Identifies data requirements to support stewardship strategies and helps ensure information is readily available to report to donors and other stakeholders about donor-supported funds and their impact. Compiles, analyzes, and monitors fund data. Proactively identifies and researches potential issues. Supports college/unit development, stewardship, and fiscal staff in reviewing development funds and communicating about stewardship. Coordinates and convenes meetings to review fund balances and develop spending plans as appropriate. Monitors pending/endowed funds to ensure required funding levels are reached; works with development/stewardship officers to determine appropriate alternatives if required funding is not reached. Updates and maintains contact information for fund administrators

Advises faculty and staff including but not limited to development staff, fiscal staff, fund administrators about relevant university financial and gift policies; may occasionally talk with donors to explain the same. Partners with central development staff and college/unit development and fiscal staff to resolve specific issues or concerns about donor-supported funds, on behalf of donors and the university. Remains current on gift policies.

As a Functional Lead for Fund Management Reporting (Designation Profile Report, Unspent Balances, Fund Management Dashboard, etc.), provides expertise on overall business requirements and processes for fund administration tools. Reviews and approves relevant IT project requirements. Helps to direct and participate in the developing and performing of test scenarios. Subject Matter Expert for Fund Management Reporting with assistance from BIDS staff. Trains and assists with development of training materials for Fund Management Reporting. Occasionally helps resolve questions about TAS issues related to funds, as submitted through the Help Desk

As an active member of the Gift Agreement and Endowment Services (GAES) team, helps to guide strategies and participate in projects to improve internal and external processes. Serves as backup gift agreement and endowment description writer. At times represents GAES at senior fiscal officer meetings and other related university meetings. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Four year’s experience using financial systems and software
Three years’ experience using customer relationship database
Knowledge of investments, stocks, mutual fund strategies and marketing financial reports
Experience explaining financial data or concepts to internal and/or external partners

Knowledge of higher education advancement, demonstrated knowledge of endowments.

Target Hiring Range: $62,700 – $83,600
