Fully Funded PhD Project on Product Quality

RMIT University

A student is sought for an industrially focused PhD project on Product Quality within the ARC Research Hub for Digital Bioprocess Development.

The student will examine the long term stability of protein therapeutics following production and storage to increase our understanding of biotherapeutics, improve screening and transfer skills to industry to improve production processes and drug products.

Research will be conducted in NanoBioPharm laboratory in the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences at RMIT Bundoora and Melbourne city campuses (RMIT NanoBioPharm Lab website ) and at the industrial sponsor CSL Innovation in Parkville (https://www.csl.com/our-company ), with potential to also work at The Bio21 Molecular Science and Biotechnology Institute (http://www.bio21.unimelb.edu.au/ ) and The Melbourne School of Engineering (https://eng.unimelb.edu.au/ ).

The successful student will have an excellent track record in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences a related discipline and be able to effectively communicate with both academic and industrial teams.

They will be interested in biopharmaceutical production, high-throughput methods for detection of protein aggregates, the kinetics of aggregation processes and the development of experimental and computational models to describe and predict these processes.

Prior experience studying proteins and experience within industry is advantageous but not a requirement.

Other desirable skills include experience in high-throughput methods, data analysis, mathematical modelling, python or other coding languages.

The successful candidate will also be both diligent and passionate about research.
