Full-time, 2-year Limited Term Appointment as Assistant Professor in Communication Studies

Wilfrid Laurier University—The Department of Communication Studies invites applications for a 2-year Limited Term Appointment at the Assistant Professor level commencing July 1, 2026, subject to budgetary approval.

Anticipated Salary Range: $90K to $110K. Actual salary to be commensurate with experience.

We welcome applications from critical communication studies scholars with demonstrated expertise in critical data studies with a focus on artificial intelligence. We seek a scholar who regards AI as having profound political, economic and cultural implications, centering this in their research and/or teaching. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from scholars who work on information literacies in this context.

Applicants must have a completed PhD in Communication Studies or a cognate discipline by the start of the appointment. The annual teaching workload for this position is five one-term courses, at the undergraduate and Master’s level.

Applicants should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, up to two selected publications and a teaching dossier. The teaching dossier should include copies of course evaluations, selected course outlines and a brief reflection on teaching and the applicant’s teaching experience.
