Job Description:

The office of Housing & Residential Services is seeking a student for employment. This position is funded by the university. All undergraduate students looking for employment are welcome to make application for this position. Please see below the specific duties and responsibilities for this role.

1. Meet all expectations outlined in your current Position Description at the time you accepted and content covered in all training. 

2. Serve in an on-call rotation with other break staff for the break period. During times when you are on call, you will carry a duty phone and you must be able to respond within 15 minutes of being called. 

3. Respond to student concerns and inappropriate behavior.

4. Assist the professional staff with administrative duties and tasks (i.e. maintenance issues, functional assignments, closing/opening procedures, and facilities walk-throughs etc.). 

5. Break Staff will participate in what is Primary Duty and Secondary Coverage, which is defined as follows:

      A. Primary Duty

  • One Break student staff will always be on Primary Duty
  • This is when a student staff is holding the duty phone
  • The Break phone will be held 24/7 during break periods (however long the defined duration of the break)
  • Average Break Primary Duty shifts are on a 1-day or 24-hour set basis split among Break student staff
  • When on Primary Duty, you need to be able to respond to a call anywhere on campus within 15-minutes. Typical calls include lock outs, fire alarms, facilities issues, item retrieval with non-break resident (Winter & Spring breaks only and only when approved by RDOD)
  • Conducting regular rounds of all campus residence halls during your primary days on duty.
  • As much as possible, when on your Primary Duty shift, you likely will not be asked to fulfill Secondary Coverage.

     B. Break Secondary Coverage

  • This will be asked of Break student staff weekdays between 8am-5pm for an average of 3 hours per day, when the university is open.
  • Any Break Staff not on Primary Duty will be asked to support Secondary Coverage in the Main Housing office for an average of 3-hours per business day when open.


Requirements:

  • At the time of the break period, you must currently be in the ARD, RA, AEA, or CM position for the Department of Housing & Residential Services.
  • Must reside on campus in the assigned living space provided by your immediate supervisor
  • Have a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average, most recent semester and cumulative.


Additional Information:

Shift Information: Student only position. Up to 20 hours per week at $14.25 per hour.
