College of Business, Government and Law
The Centre for Social Impact (CSI) Flinders is a newly established node in the CSI National network, a national education and research collaboration which catalyses positive social change through transformational research and education that is rigorous and purpose-driven, and by working with people, communities and organisations across Australia to grow their capabilities. CSI Flinders is based within the College of Business, Government and Law at Flinders University. Our activities are integral to achieving the College mission: to embrace innovative knowledge and practice to tackle the challenges of our time, with a strategic focus on technology, health and social impact.
As a growing centre we require a highly skilled, dynamic and driven Centre Manager to assist with the strategic and daily operations of CSI Flinders. Under broad direction from the CSI Flinders executive team, the CSI Flinders Centre Manager will undertake business management, organise events and support the production of Centre communications, manage complex Centre finances, liaise with key stakeholders (within and external to the university) and support the CSI Flinders executive team in their roles.
Key Position Responsibilities
Internal reporting via College and University administration and external reporting to the CSI National Board and associated entities.
Management of CSI Flinders budget in conjunction with the CSI Flinders Executive, College and University administration.
Supporting senior researchers with line management, including onboarding new staff by managing HR and training requirements within CSI Flinders, in conjunction with College and University administration.
Setting up and supporting research contracts in conjunction with College and University administration.
Communications and marketing functions in conjunction with College and University administration and the national CSI office, including: managing website and social media, liaising with media, preparing and managing media releases, preparing digital content, managing mailing lists.
Managing CSI Flinders events.
Supporting senior researchers with business development activities.
General administrative support for the CSI Flinders Executive, including managing executive level diaries, credit card reconciliations, travel bookings and providing a secretariat function for the CSI Flinders Executive and Advisory Council.
Any other responsibilities in line with the level of the position as assigned by the Supervisor and/or the University.
Key Position Capabilities
Relevant tertiary qualification(s) and experience relevant to business management with experience in marketing, communications and finance
A solutions focus and high level of initiative.
High level business, project and event management and organisational skills including attention to detail, accurate record keeping and the ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously to strict deadlines
Highly developed written and oral communication skills that support timely and accurate sharing of information or provision of guidance and advice.
Demonstrated high level writing skills for a range of communications collateral.
Ability to manage complex project budgets and reporting requirements.
Proven experience in stakeholder communication and management at all levels (across university, government, non-government, industry).
Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision and exercise a high degree of independent judgement and initiative within broad guidelines.
Being a positive contributor to a growing team, with willingness to help and share responsibilities.
Strong technology skills, including excellent skills using the Microsoft suite of products.
Prior experience working within the university sector is desirable.
Prescribed Conditions for Employment
A National Police Certificate which is satisfactory to the University will be required by Flinders University before the successful applicant can commence in this position.
