Please
note: This is an internal competition limited to current NAIT staff.
Reporting
to the Director, Academic Excellence, this specialized position serves as the
key development resource and implementation expert for microcredential
programming and assessment. This individual collaborates extensively with
colleagues and stakeholders at multiple levels and across the institute to
provide both direct support and thought leadership to programs seeking to
incorporate microcredentials. An understanding of educational foundations such
as demonstrating mastery through multiple forms of assessment at a personalized
pace, development of outcomes and competency-based education, and especially
the development of reliable and valid student assessment tools appropriate to
specific subject matter and workplace practice.
Key
Accountabilities:
- Leads,
supports, and collaborates toward, as appropriate, the development and
assessment of microcredential programming - Provides
expertise on best practices in competency-based education development,
assessment, and microcredentialing. - Fosters
change through expert influence in a diverse organization while working with
leadership and functional managers to advise on microcredential education
strategy and initiatives. - Develops
strategic partnerships with faculty, staff and administrators to design,
develop, and facilitate implementation of microcredential education systems in
selected credit and non-credit programs. - Provides
direct support and assistance to program administrators, faculty, and
instructional designers in the development of microcredentials - Researches,
develops, and/or recommends acquisition of assessment methods and instruments
to provide valid and reliable assessment of student competencies. - Provides
input on the overall direction and long-term strategic vision for the ongoing
design, development, and evaluation of microcredential education programs.
Fosters
relationships with other institutions, industry, and stakeholder groups and
facilitates focus groups and information gathering sessions
Skills
& Abilities:
- Advanced
technology user, including standard office applications and specialized
learning technologies such as learning management systems, student information
systems, web-conferencing, and content development tools. - Teaching
experience in online and/or face-to-face learning environments.
Qualifications:
- A
minimum of a diploma in the field of Education is required.
A
Bachelors Degree or Masters – Adult education, educational technology and/or
curriculum development would be an asset.
A
graduate degree in another field with extensive related experience would also
be considered.

years of relevant experience.
Strong
track record of program and assessment development in a post-secondary or
formal workplace role.
Remuneration: $ 77,938.12
– $ 104,496.86 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Advisor/Specialist III).
This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE)
Collective Agreement.
