- Description
- This research associate position (2-year appointment) will primarily provide data analysis support for the Great Lakes Acoustic Telemetry Observation System (https://glatos.glos.us/) in Lake Erie through collaborative research with the US Geological Survey’s Lake Erie Biological Station and Lake Erie Committee fishery managers. The candidate will lead analysis of existing telemetry data collected from several ongoing projects, with a focus on applied questions relevant to fisheries management. Potential topic areas will be defined through prioritization with partner agencies and are expected to include novel applications of telemetry to quantify the composition of mixed-stock fisheries, spawning behavior habitat use related to fish passage projects, and selectivity of fisheries-independent surveys. Such questions would leverage 10+ years of detection data from several projects focused on spatial ecology of walleye. This person will work closely with agency staff to analyze data, publish results, and communicate findings to task groups, peers, and stakeholders.
