Position Details:

Summary of Duties:

The position is responsible for complex technical and varied administrative support functions including establishing and maintaining comprehensive fiscal recordkeeping systems, financial analysis, planning, reporting, and coordinating diverse department-wide financial, reimbursements, travel, and purchasing for a variety of sport and administrative units within the department. Also responsible for various aspects of departmental accounting procedures in accordance with NCAA, Pac-12, State, University and departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures. The individual will work under general direction and will exercise independent judgment and decision-making authority and must be able to interpret and apply complicated rules and regulations. This position independently advises units, coaches, staff, and administrators regarding applicable policies and procedures and recommends alternative efficient/effective courses of action. This position collaborates with internal and external constituencies and establishes and maintains positive and productive working relationships.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience at a level equivalent to Fiscal Specialist 1 AND 15 quarter hours OR 10 semester hours of college-level accounting; OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Strong computer capabilities and familiarity with mainframe systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to function in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal relationship skills, including the ability to provide information to diverse groups of people.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable rules and regulations, including State of Washington, Washington State University, Athletic Department, NCAA, and Pac-12 Conference rules and regulations.

  • Demonstrated work experience that requires strong time management, fiscal accountability and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated work experience that requires expertise with business practices and internal controls.

  • Possess excellent report writing skills and have the ability to initiate and complete projects with specific deadlines.

Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
