In the role of Financial Specialist working in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Our Financial Specialist will track and manage all Clinical Trial Office (CTO) held study expenses and revenue, including external client billing, internal service center billing and associated receivables. Perform financial and business-related analysis of active clinical trials. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports and monitor daily financials of clinical trial research/grant accounts.

 Responsibilities:

  • Serves as primary financial contact to Froedtert Hospital Office of Clinical Research and Innovative Care Compliance (OCRICC), MCW Sponsored Programs staff, clinical research managers and coordinators, and Sponsor representatives related to clinical trial finances to identify, track and resolve billing issues related to conduct of clinical research.
  • Monitors clinical trial-related expenses to ensure within the approved study budget and identifies billable items of the clinical trial agreement for appropriate billing of the trial Sponsor and recovery of associated revenue.
  • Assists CTO Business Finance Manager in financial management of clinical trials to identify mechanisms to maximize reimbursement of clinical trial expenses.
  • Assist with clinical trial account close-out process by ensuring all billable items have been invoiced.
  • Extract, analyze and align complex internal billing data, working in multiple platforms, to allocate internal labor costs to applicable clinical trial accounts.
  • Generates monthly financial reports and budget to actual analysis to inform and assist leadership with financial management of the Clinical Trial Office Lab and Labor internal billing.
  • Train and work with Finance Team to effectively implement OnCore Financials into the operational management of the clinical trials office, including but not limited to, final financial builds and associated Sponsor billing management.
  • Assist in special projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge – Skills – Abilities

  • Knowledge of economics, accounting, mathematics, administration, English language, law, government, and human resources.
  • Work requires resource management, mathematics, problem solving, coordinating work activities, critical thinking, systems analysis, operations analysis, time management, writing, active listening, and active learning skills.
  • Speech clarity, speech recognition, finger dexterity, and wrist-finger speed while operating computers abilities required.

Preferred Schedule:

08:00 a to 4:30 p

Position Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:  

Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis

  • Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum Required Experience: 1 year of related experience
  • Preferred Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Healthcare-related field
  • Preferred Experience:  One year or more of clinical trial financial management and/or contracting. Ability to interpret technical information, documents and data (clinical trial agreements, protocols, financial analysis, etc.). Experience working in multiple custom software platforms simultaneously.
