FINANCIAL COORDINATOR, Chemical Engineering (ChemE)-Financial Team, to provide financial support.  Will assist with developing long-term solutions to financial issues; handle a complex research portfolio, including all pre- and post-award management and acting as the point-of-contact for a designated set of principal investigators (PIs)/faculty; assist with financial review and control (FRC) and ProCard review and approval; and assist with project management as needed.  Portfolio management will include budget and proposal development, grant proposal submission, monitoring expenditures, analyzing financial reports, reviewing/approving purchasing transactions, processing no-cost extensions, account close-outs, clearing suspense salary charges, and ensuring compliance with federal guidelines and MIT policies/procedures; performing FRCs and preparing account projection reports with different scenarios; reviewing expenditures/transactions for conformance and processing financial transactions; and attending financial meetings with the PIs within the portfolio.  Will also assist with the FRC process for sponsored research accounts; run reports to capture high-risk transactions and conduct first-pass analysis; assist with developing policies/procedures/systems for SRS financial review and reporting; review monthly transactions related to various cost objects to ensure accuracy, timely completion, and proper documentation; and assist with other tasks/special projects.  


Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; two years’ relevant financial management experience; knowledge of federal research regulations; experience with academic programs and administration; excellent organizational, analytical, customer service, and communication skills; attention to detail; sound judgment; ability to meet short turn-around times; proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), SAP, COEUS, and electronic proposal submission software; and ability to multitask and perform hands-on work in a team­based group.  PREFERRED:  knowledge of and experience with MIT financial systems and sponsored accounting, and broad understanding of Cognos Reports.  Job #22018-6
