FINANCIAL AND SPONSORED ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR, Urban Studies and Planning (DUSP), to perform diverse financial duties associated with sponsored research and projects. Will support pre- and post-award research administration, including federal, industry, and foundation grants and contracts; and work with principal investigators (PIs) to manage their research and serve as a liaison with department leadership, the Dean’s Office, and Research Administration Services (RAS).  Responsibilities include coordinating the preparation, review, and submission of budgets and research proposals on behalf of PIs and serving as point-of-contact with RAS and Sponsored Accounting; communicating proposal requirements to PIs and ensuring they are incorporated in the submission via Kuali Coeus; tracking and monitoring the financial performance of grants to ensure compliance with MIT and sponsor policies and budget versus actual spending; monitoring research accounts, including coordinating invoice payments and ensuring the accuracy of initial account setups, award extensions, and closeouts; assisting manager with providing detailed spending forecasts to PIs, preparing multi-PI and multi-DLC proposals, and post-award management activities (e.g. tracking cost-sharing and ensuring obligation are met, coordinating renewal and submission applications for current awards, project closeout processes and audit inquiries); and performing other duties as assigned.  


Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; at least two years of accounting or finance experience; strong interpersonal communication, analytical, and organizational skills; comfort working with faculty, staff, and students across the Institute; discretion and judgment with confidential information/issues; and ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines.  PREFERRED:  experience with research administration, higher education finance, and MIT and its systems. Job #21903-6
