Position Summary:
 
The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) provides services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI’s brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus partners. DFA serves the university as planning partners, problem solvers, and solution providers—striving to make it as easy as possible for people to get the services they need, when they need them. The Budget Office serves as a planning resource for campus leadership and all UCI units. The Budget Office provides analysis, reporting, financial modeling, and advice on fiscal policies, procedures, and resource deployment. Functions include base budget, staffing, fund management, student fee oversight, campus budget allocations, tracking of actuals to budget, and fiscal sustainability.
 
Uses professional concepts. Applies organizational policies and procedures to resolve various issues. Works on problems of limited to moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of multiple factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Contacts are primarily internal to the department but may also be external. Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Budget Operations, the incumbent manages report development, data downloads, financial analysis and projections, and provides support as the primary contact to a set of campus units including monitoring units’ adherence to approved budget. The incumbent utilizes strong problem-solving skills, knowledge, experience, and understanding of the overall picture to clearly identify the best methods to accomplish specific tasks. Additionally, the incumbent is involved with transactions in the Kuali Financial System impacting both base and current budgets. The incumbent frequently interacts with staff in departments across the campus. e department, but may also be external.
 
Compensation Range:
 
$58,500 – $69,800

Required:
 
2 or more years of relevant work experience
Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Ability to function as a member of a team. Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment. Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely. Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize, and perform basic financial analysis assignments.
 
Preferred:
 
Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
