FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR 1, Comparative Media Studies/Writing (CMS/W), to provide high-level support for finance, research administration, and HR functions related to research and gift accounting for the Scheller Teacher Education Program, Teaching Systems Lab, and other CMS/S groups.  Will monitor the financial performance of research and gift accounts to ensure compliance with MIT and sponsor policies and consistency with the approved budget; prepare account projections and reports for principal investigators (PIs) and other stakeholders; ensure the accurate distribution of staff salaries across grants; work with central MIT offices to affect timely execution of account/project extensions and closeout processes; provide advice on matters pertaining to the financial management of research accounts; work with research staff and PIs on preparing proposals for submission; act as primary point of contact with PIs and others to ensure terms and conditions regarding travel, procurement, etc., of awards are met; manage reporting requirements and assist with report preparation; oversee effort certification (eDACCA) process for all lab accounts; assist with hiring activities, including preparing position descriptions, search plans, and reports and coordinating interviewing and search committee needs; process HR transaction forms; and other duties as assigned.  


Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; two years’ experience relevant to finance, research administration, HR, and/or communications; advanced-level computer proficiency (e.g., Excel, Word); meticulous attention to detail; excellent organizational, customer service, and written and verbal communication skills; and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of faculty and staff.  PREFERRED: relevant MIT experience, including knowledge of SAP, Cognos, and Concur.  Those who are interested in higher education administration and AO positions in the future are encouraged to apply.  Job #21906-6
