As a part of the Division of Finance and Operations, Financial Management Operations is an employee-centric organization that provides accounting services in partnership with our stakeholders. By promoting high standards of efficiency, integrity, innovation and customer satisfaction, we ensure financial compliance and accountability to Texas A&M University and its constituents. Financial Management Operations – Accounting provides quality services that enable the institution to track and monitor fiscal operations. Our goal is to assist in developing and maintaining quality accounting records and processes. In conjunction with various TAMU departments and external customers, we strive to provide superior customer service.

We are looking for a problem-solving, customer-centric, detail-oriented individual to serve in our Financial Accountant III position. This individual will be responsible for performing advanced professional accounting tasks at a university level within the Division of Finance. A summation of this job includes extensive reconciliation – including analyzing accounts, investigating and resolving outstanding items, handling unclaimed property and engaging in banking transactions, just to name a few. Comprehension and appropriate applicability of rules and regulations, strong communication skills and a practical knowledge of governmental and higher education operations in a specialized field are desired skill sets for this role. Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Four years accounting experience in a business office.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication; customer service and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to comprehend and apply rules and regulations.

  • Practical knowledge of governmental and higher education operations in a specialized field.

  • Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs and database program management.

  • Requires ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in higher education.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds.

  • Professional Certification

Responsibilities:

  • System Pool Reconciliation – Analyze and prepare high-volume account reconciliation. Perform advanced assignments and serve as a resource to recognize, investigate, and resolve outstanding items through entries, meetings, correspondence, identifying corrections, and follow-up. Work with other reconcilers to resolve issues. Assist in and recommend policies and procedures.

  • TAMU Bank Reconciliations – Analyze and prepare high-volume bank account reconciliations. Perform advanced assignments and serve as a resource to recognize, investigate, and resolve outstanding items through entries, meetings, correspondence, identifying corrections, and follow-up. Work with other reconcilers to resolve issues. Assist in and recommend policies and procedures.

  • Unclaimed Property – Notify, calculate, report and remit Unclaimed Property to each state throughout the year according to their due dates.

  • Account Reconciliation – Complete Unclaimed Property account reconciliations.

  • Banking – Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Other Bank Reconciliation – Analyze and prepare other bank account reconciliations for various TAMU System parts. Perform advanced assignments and serve as a resource to recognize, investigate, and resolve outstanding items through entries, meetings, correspondence, identifying corrections, and follow-up. Work with other reconcilers to resolve issues. Assist in and recommend policies and procedures.
