As a driver of innovation, TU Wien fosters close collaboration with business and industry and contributes to the prosperity of society.At the Institute of Production Engineering and Photonic Technologies, in the Research Group for Process Simulation TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc) limited to 3 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: August 2024. In case of suitable professional qualifications, the extent of employment can be increased to 40 hours per week from third-party funds of the Institute.Tasks:

• Research and project activity in the field of simulation of laser-material processing within the project “Laser meets Synchrotron”

and within cooperations with renowned companies * (Co-)Supervision of BSc. and MSc. students

• Writing a dissertation and publications
• Participation in scientific events
• Assistance/Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

• Completion of a master or diploma curriculum in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computational Science and Engineering, or a similar field
• Excellent knowledge of English
• First experience with object-oriented programming (e.g., C++), numerical methods or OpenFOAM is advantageous, but not strictly required
• German communication skills are advantageous
• Interest in simulation methods and laser-material processing
• Ability to work in a team, to solve problems, and willingness to learn new concepts
