Feed Mill Technician

FAES Research Operations Administration

Reporting to the Feed Mill Manager, the Feed Mill Technician performs operations to prepare animal feed to support research and education programs of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. Prepares feed premixes by accurately weighing and mixing ingredients. Maintains detailed records for withdrawal of feed ingredients according to US Food and Drug Administration guidelines. Assists in quantifying experimental diets. Collects feed and grain samples for laboratory analysis. Operates computer-controlled batching and processing system to convey, mix and process feed. Operates pellet mill, grinders, and mixers to ensure feeds are processed according to quality standards. Operates feed bagging equipment. Assists with loading/unloading delivery trucks and stores/organizes supplies. Operates fork lift. Repairs and maintains conveyors, mixers, grinders and other feed processing equipment. Cleans mixers and bucket elevators to minimize cross contamination. Cleans facility and work areas. Assists with monitoring and recording inventory. Reports daily production status to supervisor. Follows safety program for feed mill operations. Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to work overtime or adjusted schedule to meet production schedules. Position located in Wooster, Ohio.
