Job Duties
Perform daily duties of a large farm operation which includes production of row crops, vegetable crops, dairy cattle operation, beef cattle operation, maintenance of buildings, grounds, roadways and the operation and maintenance of all farm equipment utilizing inmate workforce. Provide training, supervision and evaluation to inmate workforce while performing all farm tasks.
This is an hourly position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This position offers no state benefits.
Minimum Qualifications
General knowledge of farm operation, agriculture production, maintenance and operation of farm equipment. Demonstrated ability to supervise, follow written and oral instructions, keep accurate records and solve practical problems. High School diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license.
Additional Considerations
Agricultural, construction or equipment experience. Possession of Commercial Driver’s License and Pesticide Application Permit or the ability to obtain them.
