Basic Function:

The Department of Biological Sciences at Kent State University is seeking applicants to fill a full-time (9 month), tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Additional Basic Function – if applicable:

We seek individuals with expertise in evolutionary biology and/or ecology, with particular focus in microbiology (999273).

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

For this position, the successful applicant will be expected to establish an extramurally funded research program, engage in collaborative research, and contribute to the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) program by mentoring undergraduate students and directing graduate theses and dissertations. In addition to research and mentoring, we are seeking faculty to engage in teaching a general microbiology course as well as graduate-level EEB courses.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Required qualifications include a PhD, a record of publications in peer-reviewed journals, the ability to envision and articulate an independent research program, evidence of effective teaching and/or mentoring, and a commitment to diversity.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
