The Division of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown is seeking applicants for part-time instructors beginning in Spring 2023 to teach in the BSN program with CCNE accreditation. The undergraduate curriculum of the Pitt School of Nursing combines the latest in clinical theory with traditional nursing values that emphasize holistic patient care and gives students the opportunity to combine a strong theoretical base of biological and behavioral sciences with a foundation in the liberal arts. Primary responsibilities include teaching 3 credits – Nutrition for Clinical Practice (Spring Term) Master’s degree preferred in a related discipline. Must have evidence proficiency with technology and commitment to innovative and evidence-based nursing education. Preference is given to candidates with previous teaching experience at the baccalaureate level, and recognition of expertise in specialty areas.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Promotes student success in introductory principles of nutrition.
· Works with students to identify their strengths, learning styles, and areas requiring further development, and to develop and implement remediation plans as needed.
· Maintain accurate records, submit grades and other reports on time, and enforce Departmental academic and attendance policies.
· Build student confidence in preparing for the NCLEX exam.
· Collaborate with other course team members, including class, clinical, and lab instructors teaching at the same level to promote consistency in teaching and learning which will lead to student success.
· Participate in professional development related to teaching and nursing skills, college activities, committees, and seminars as well as departmental meetings/activities.
Requirements
· A Master’s Degree in Food and Nutrition Science and certification as a Registered Dietician from an academic institution accredited by a regional or nationally accredited agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
· Ideal candidates will have academic experience in a school of nursing with a successful record of teaching.
· Ability to relate to students and to communicate subject material using innovative approaches and technologies.
