JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State’s Office of Physical Plant is seeking a Facilities Project Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for project management and coordination of multiple renovations, major maintenance, and new construction projects from inception to completion.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate with internal and external design professionals, internal workforce, and external subcontractors/workforce to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and meet the University’s standard of quality and safety.

  • Maintain awareness of project safety concerns and compliance with University and OSHA requirements. Maintain construction documentation including Change Orders, RFI’s and ensure as-built completion and timely project close-out.

  • Communicate regularly with customers, owners and end users.

  • Monitor project activities to ensure work meets contract specifications.

  • Assist Superintendents, working foreman and project support personnel with resolution of project specific issues and requests.

  • Conduct final inspections, visit job sites to monitor work and review change orders and obtain authorization for changes to work.

Education and experience:

This job will be filled as a level 3 or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate’s competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture or related field plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher-level jobs.

Proficiency in Construction Management is required.  OSHA 30-hour certification, knowledge of building mechanical, electrical and architectural systems, and CPM scheduling knowledge are preferred. Candidate must also have excellent interpersonal skills and computer skills. 

Background check:

This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
