Gates Biomanufacturing Facility has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Quality Assurance Systems Associate II position.
Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support of research activities. Functions include contracts and grants solicitation and administration, grant/agreement preparation, review and negotiation, regulatory compliance, sponsor communication and post and pre award management, human subject compliance, research animal management, research laboratory coordination and instruction, environmental health and safety, radiation control, hazardous materials use, disposal, and training.
Senior Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability, and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying, and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. Work is performed fully independently.
Position Emphasis
This position is a full-time, senior-level position at the Gates Biomanufacturing Facility located on the Anschutz Medical Campus and serves on the Facilities team. This position will be responsible for coordinating facility operations, establishing and improving Facilities specific systems and ensuring compliance with quality standards. The Facilities Coordinator will work closely with the Facilities Manager and Facilities Engineer to provide administrative, scheduling and equipment support. The Facilities Coordinator works in collaboration/cross-functionally with members of the Quality Assurance team. The Facilities Coordinator supports adherence to relevant regulatory requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and will serve as the primary point of contact for GMP facility-related items to Quality Assurance and Site Facilities & Engineering. This includes providing leadership for the facility cleaning programs; coordinating facility maintenance events (planned and unplanned); ensuring accuracy of asset and service records in facility quality systems; project management for Facility Department projects. This is a hands-on position and will require performing maintenance and other manual tasks on an as-needed basis. This position will report to the Manager of Facilities.
Specific Job Responsibilities
This role will have the following responsibilities including but not limited to the following:
- Manage and negotiate Facility Asset Service Agreements
- Comprehensive project management for facility upgrades, expansions, and modifications.
- Schedule planed and emergency Facility Maintenance and Events
- Utilizes existing experience and knowledge of facility and SOPs to determine best course of action before, during, and after maintenance activities
- Review, improve and create Standard Operating Procedures related to Facility Department responsibilities and processes
- Manage and improve internal Information Technology Program and inventory of IT assets
- Vendor management including relationship building negotiations, scheduling, procurement processes
- External cleaning vendor program manager
- Coordinates cleaning activities and the subsequent release of manufacturing areas following planned or unplanned maintenance activities.
- Provide strategic direction for lab moves and reconfigurations
- Organize and store all facility maintenance records in accordance with established procedures
- Establish and manage spare parts and supply inventories for all infrastructure systems.
- Support investigations related to facility-type excursions including environmental monitoring, utility sampling, and facility-related issues / maintenance failures
- Produce reports and metrics related to asset/maintenance expense, labor allocation and project specific timelines
- Assist in the review and development of Calibration Program procedures.
Condition of Employment
- This position may require weekend work and work outside of normal work hours to accommodate the completion of release testing or other critical processes which cross shifts. While not typical, this irregularity of work hours should be expected.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, preferably in business, administration, or finance.
- At least 2 years of related professional experience which may include experience in cGMP manufacturing environment, managing operational activities, services projects & financials and external vendors auditors and contractors.
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
Required: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Leadership, Business and Project Management certification.
- 1 year of professional experience coordinating cGMP HVAC, Remote Monitoring, Equipment, IT systems/maintenance.
- 2 years of management experience overseeing direct & “dotted line” reports.
- 4 years of professional experience in manufacturing environment.
- 4 years of professional experience implementing and managing project related budgets and plans.

- Strong understanding of, and applied experience with, GMP regulations in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to author Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), forms, and logs.
- Demonstrated ability to lead the activities required to resolve an unplanned maintenance/facility event.
- In-depth knowledge of calibration and documentation requirements for cGMP manufacturing.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others to solve problems or to mitigate the risk of encountering future problems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Proficiency in University Procurement, Finance and Training systems
- Proficiency in Q-Pulse/Facility Quality systems
- Demonstrated ability providing subject matter expertise during internal and external compliance audits of a regulated manufacturing facility.
- Direct experience working in a GMP Manufacturing as support staff/analyst
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members.
- Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established at $54,284-$69,049 per fiscal year.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
