Job Summary

The SFGH Department of Psychiatry Administration Office is the entry point for all administrative, operational, and other non-clinical aspects of the Department of Psychiatry. Under general supervision, the Facilities and Credentialing Admin supports the Central Administration office, Director of Division Administration, and other operational staff as needed. The positions’ role involves monitoring and coordination of supplies and equipment for inpatient psychiatry, psychiatric emergency services and other divisions as needed. This is needed to ensure the employees at the hospital and working remotely have everything they need to work effectively. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for the triage and coordination of a broad range of operational and clinical support related activities in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires the ability to work independently. He/she must be exceedingly well organized, flexible and enjoy the administrative challenges of supporting a large department of diverse people and programs. The ability to interact with faculty and staff (at all levels) sometimes under pressure remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role. Expert written and verbal communication skills, strong decision-making ability and attention to detail are equally important. The Facilities and Credentialing Admin will prepare and review medical staff credentialing materials for submission to the ZSFG medical staff office and maintain the necessary documentation per ZSFG/JCAHO guidelines ensuring compliance with JACHO requirements. Working closely with the ZSFG Dean’s office, ZSFG Credentialing medical records and medical staff offices to gather and maintain documentation is essential.

This position’s secondary role is to provide backup to the main psychiatry administrations office, which is responsible for time sensitive material like timesheets, invoice processing for services like taxi vouchers and ensuring that legal documents are delivered in a timely manner to the conservator’s office.

Department Description

The UCSF Department of Psychiatry at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center is dedicated to providing culturally competent services to the diverse patient population we serve. Providing a range of clinical services informed by evidence-based practices, the Department of Psychiatry provides care to thousands of patients each year. The department is divided into six subdivisions; the Divisions of: • Acute and Emergency Services – includes San Francisco’s only 24/7 dedicated psychiatric emergency room; 44 inpatient psychiatry beds and consultation / liaison services to hospitalized medical and surgical patients • Alliance Health Project – dedicated to providing HIV prevention services, mental health, and substance abuse services to the city’s LGBTQ and HIV-affected communities • Citywide Case Management Services – provides assertive case management services to nearly 1,000 of the most seriously mental ill patients in the city, as well as the city’s forensic mental health patients • Infant, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry – provides a range of mental health care to children from birth to 24 years of age • Substance Abuse and Addiction Medicine – provides opiate replacement therapies and other services to more than 800 people each day, both on-site and in the community via mobile methadone vans • Trauma Recovery Services – includes the Child and Adolescent Support Advocacy and Resource Center (CASARC), the Trauma Recovery Center (TRC), the Rape Treatment Center, Survivors International (SI), and the Neurotrauma Outreach Program (NTOP). Our programs are staffed by UCSF faculty physicians and psychologists who lead multi-disciplinary teams of nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and occupational therapists in providing high quality care of patients and families experiencing acute mental illness.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and minimum one year of experience / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff verbally and in writing.
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • Working knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Credentialing experience with large hospitals.
