Exhibitions Lead (HEO 6)

• Full-time continuing position based in MOD at the City West campus
• Commencement Salary: $84,539 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

About the Role 

The Exhibitions Lead leads diverse projects, administrative and creative services across all exhibition and program activity, ensuring that approaches, processes and ideas for exhibition and program design are cohesive and reflect industry practice and MOD strategy. The position oversees design processes and engagement functions associated with digital platforms, youth, stakeholders and research.

The position will work closely with the Director: MOD and the Exhibitions & Experience Design Manager to ensure that all aspects of development and management of exhibitions and programs are in accordance with MOD’s mission and objectives and are delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard.

Core Responsibilities

• Conduct project research including to inform approaches to exhibition design and build working relationships with stakeholders to develop exhibit opportunities
• Provide advice to ensure exhibitions are designed and delivered drawing on research related to museum practice and science communications
• Work with the Exhibitions & Experience Design Manager, Production Manager, suppliers and collaborators to develop exhibitions and programs including the design and delivery of exhibition and program content
• Implement strategies in support of design principles including:
  • Improving co-design opportunities to improve visitor experience and student engagement
  • Improving accessibility and inclusion
  • Supporting projects with Aboriginal stakeholders; and
  • Support for the delivery of research initiatives

Essential Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated experience managing complex creative projects with strong project management skills and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a complex environment characterised by competing demands
• Strong analytical and research skills as well as excellent writing and editing skills
• Highly developed interpersonal skills and an ability to successfully network and communicate with a diverse range of people
• Demonstrated curatorial or exhibitions experience, including delivery of digital or technology-related projects for public-facing projects
