Executive/Senior Executive, Student Life (School of Computing)



Job Purpose

You will be joining the Student Life Office to support the NUS School of Computing’s (SoC) student community to build a vibrant campus life while encouraging wellness, well-being, and welfare to make each student’s experience in university as productive and meaningful as possible.

Job Description

Student Support and Case Management

•    Provide a friendly and safe environment for students to voice their concerns, involving close family members if necessary, and seek support at faculties with minimal stigma
•    Provide first-line support and assessment of students and refer medium- to high-risk cases to the University Counselling Services (UCS)
•    Monitor & reach out to existing cases of at-risk students and students who are referred by UCS
•    Offer individual consultation and/or pastoral care to students and referring them to the correct offices in NUS (e.g. Office of Financial Aid (OFA), University Health Centre (UHC), UCS, Office of Housing Services (OHS), NUS Care Unit (NCU), etc. based on their needs and concerns)
•    Work with faculty staff to handle at risk students and contact students who have been missing classes
•    Advise and advocate for students who need support for Leave of Absence, special considerations for exam or assignments
•    Manage students on Stay Home Notice/Quarantine Order regarding their wellbeing and related academic request and queries
•    Manage cases on violation of non-academic offence and provide care and support to students
•    Manage cases on No-Contact Order (NCO)

Peer Student Support at SoC

•    Assist in the setting up of PitStop@SoC
•    Assist in development of Peer Student Support Group (PSSG) at SoC Training and Outreach
•    Organise mental health literacy programmes for SoC staff and students
•    Organize mental wellness programmes for students customised to the faculty’s needs and context to encourage support for self-care and stress management

 

Student and Alumni Engagement

•    Engage the student community and student groups through active participation in faculty events. 
•    Reach out to international students to provide assistance and support in settling into NUS/Singapore.
•    Organise activities to encourage integration between local and international students such as workshops on cross-cultural sensitivity/awareness.
•    Development and management of mentorship programmes for SoC (senior-junior and alumni-student). 
 

Requirements

•    A recognized University degree; qualifications in psychology, social work, or related field would be advantageous
•    At least 2 years of experience in providing guidance and general wellness support to youths and young adults, including appropriate management of students in crisis.
•    Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
•    Excellent listening skills.
•    Ability to prioritize.
•    Able to work in a team and adept at managing multiple priorities effectively.
•    Resourceful with good organisational, planning and project management skills.
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
•    Familiarity with student affairs in higher education.
•    High proficiency in Mandarin to be able to communicate with next-of-kin of international students from China.
•    Ability to create infographics.
•    Versatile with social media
